Now Murcia demands the opening of health centers and medical clinics in summer (17/05/2016)

Alicia Morales explains that "similar motion a year ago, the Department of Health simply forwarded a copy to the Ministry, and the centers closed, this time, we will urge also that the Governing Board perform active monitoring "

NOW MURCIA requires health centers and medical clinics in districts and neighborhoods of the municipality keep its opening hours during the summer, as the Murciano Health Service (SMS) announced last year, under the euphemism of "welfare changes" the closure or reduction schedules a total of 41 primary care centers in our region during the summer, of which 6 belonged to the municipality of Murcia.

For this reason, now Murcia presented at the next plenary a motion to urge the Ministry of Health and SMS to maintain during summer times of these centers in the municipality, as well as the closure last summer produced, neighbors us they are warning that this year is expected to repeat the situation.

Councillor and spokesman Now Murcia, Alicia Morales, said that the motion also includes "that urge the Governing Board to conduct active monitoring of the situation, of the hours and conditions of health centers and clinics doctors in our town, requiring the Ministry of health and SMS, if necessary, to remedy the anomalous conditions that could detect, to ensure access to health services on an equal footing ".

The mayor recalled that "despite the month of July last year have approved our motion to prevent the closure of these centers in summer, the Department of Health simply forwarded a copy of the motion to the Ministry of Health, without no other action will be made to give an effective implementation of the agreements of the plenary, with the damage that led to the closure of clinics and health centers for residents of the districts ".

Therefore, says Morales, "at the approach of next summer, and that will not occur again these closures closest to the town sanitary facilities, we understand that a clear and strong statement of our Municipal Corporation is required to ensure the access to public services on an equal footing and protecting the basic right to health ".

Councillor stressed that "it is clear that reducing hours and closure of schools leads to a reduction of health benefits and a clear deterioration in quality, and affects most especially to the most vulnerable people form, as in the case of elderly or dependent, for whom it is difficult to move to another facility and stop having continued care by their family doctors. "

In addition, he says, "the closing of schools in the afternoons affects those who work".

Regrets also the spokesman, that "the closure of public services and the reduction of health benefits on the grounds of saving respond to a mercantilist conception that sees the patient as a client and forgets that health is a basic and universal right" .

In this regard, recalls that "bodies such as the Supreme Court have ruled repeatedly, insisting on the need to put health to any budget savings Moreover, such measures produce comparative grievances between some areas and others. Any resident of the municipality, viva in the area where live and be the time of year it is, is entitled to receive the same services, on an equal footing and with the same quality. "

Most affected in the municipality last summer suffered a complete closure, as happened with the offices of Glens San Pedro, Cabezo de la Plata, Santa Cruz and Azarbe Shore.

Meanwhile, they closed in the afternoon Health centers Bacons Bridge and AlcantarillaSangonera La Seca.
