The Nebrija library of the University of Murcia celebrates Umberto Eco (26/02/2016)

On the occasion of the death of Italian writer and university professor Umberto Eco, the Italian Studies Department and the Library Nebrija pay tribute with an exhibition in the windows of the first floor of this, where you can contemplate his career.

Umberto Eco was born in 1932, he was held the chair of Semiotics and director of the School of Humanistic Studies of the University of Bologna.

He has developed his teaching at the universities of Turin, Florence and Milan.

Among his most important works include "Apocalyptic and integrated", "Treaty of general semiotics" or "Superman mass".

As narrator, he published his most famous work in 1980: "The Name of the Rose", which was followed by "Foucault's Pendulum" and "The Island of the Day Before."

Umberto Eco loved reading and encouraged others to love her, because reading is to live other lives: "Who does not read, at age 70 will have lived one life, hers who read have lived 5,000 years.".
