All traffic light pushbuttons will have STOP Covid stickers next week (01/10/2020)

| The Department of Sustainable Mobility and Youth begins to place stickers in which it is recommended that the buttons are not operated directly by hand | The Councilor for Sustainable Mobility and Youth, Rebeca Pérez, has visited Ronda Sur this morning where STOP Covid stickers have begun to be installed on the traffic light buttons. This initiative, which seeks to suggest to pedestrians not to operate these buttons by hand and which at the same time serve as a guide and reminder to exercise extreme caution, will reach the 650 existing push buttons in the municipality next week. The councilor explained that "we continue with our commitment to actions in terms of mobility that improve safety in the face of the COVID pandemic, launching a campaign for information on the use of traffic light buttons safely." These traffic light installations do not operate on fixed cycles, but on demand, depending on the push-button for this purpose, which is why a design of informative stickers has been devised to be installed on the columns and poles of the traffic lights.

They are crossings in which the pedestrian traffic is relatively low with respect to that of vehicles that, in order to optimize the flows, the crossing times for pedestrians are carried out by closing the flow of vehicles by means of the manual pulse of these devices. This on-demand management of the crosses has been an inconvenience during the pandemic since they need to be operated manually, so these stickers remind that the general recommendations given by the Ministry of Health must be followed to avoid direct contact with fingers, and use some way protection such as utensils, keys, gloves, or use hydroalcoholic gel before and after pressing.
