The Gran Vía de Murcia and the Glorieta de Churra avenue will be pedestrian tomorrow (20/06/2020)

The 'Murcia Pedestrian' Plan, which has been carried out on Sundays since May 31, allows Murcians to enjoy new pedestrian and sports circuits that guarantee physical distance and puts the pedestrian at the center of decision-makingThe 'Murcia Pedestrian' Plan will return to Gran Vía de Murcia tomorrow and will arrive at Avenida de la Glorieta de Churra, which will be closed to road traffic and can only be used by pedestrians from 9 am to 9 pm.Every Sunday since last May 31, different streets of Murcia and districts are being restricted progressively and on a rotating basis to assess their degree of social acceptance and the incidence in different areas such as traffic or commerce.In total, thanks to 'Murcia Pedestrian' 175,000 m2 will be allocated to pedestrians with the closure to traffic on Sundays of different streets of a total of 37 neighborhoods and districts."With this initiative we allow Murcians to enjoy new pedestrian and sports circuits that guarantee physical distance and, based on our Mobility model, we put the pedestrian at the center of decision-making," said the councilor for Sustainable Mobility and Youth, Rebeca Pérez."We favor safe pedestrian mobility, and we promote sustainability to maintain environmental quality levels, as established by the Murcia City Council's mobility strategy," Pérez explained.
