| This is an action that is highly demanded by the residents and framed in the improvement actions that are being carried out within the framework of the project Urban DNA La Paz | The Murcia City Council continues with the Emergency Plan against the tiger mosquito -aedes albopictus- acting with a special deployment in all districts and corners of the entire municipality and using different methods and means, such as drones and a helicopter for difficult areas access. The Health Services, of the Department of Health and Sports, directed by Felipe Coello, have been operating since last week in the neighborhoods of La Paz and Vistabella, an action that is highly demanded by the neighbors and framed in the improvement actions that are being carried out.

carried out within the framework of the ADN Urbano La Paz project. "We continue to work in the streets and green spaces of the city and districts, but also in enclaves such as these, with very unique characteristics of the land and buildings, we intervene in a special way against the tiger mosquito," explains Felipe Coello, councilor of Health and Sports, who visited the neighborhood this morning together with the president of the Eastern District Municipal Board, Rafael Gómez, and other service technicians.

The action is being carried out by means of an adulticidal treatment, which consists of the application of a liquid insecticide, which is normally carried out at dawn, and by means of larvicidal treatment, a product based on Bacillus thurigiensis that is selective for the mosquito larva and respectful with the rest of flora and fauna.Urban DNA La PazThe action against the tiger mosquito in the La Paz neighborhood is part of the improvements that are being carried out within the framework of the ADN Urbano La Paz project. It is an initiative for the renewal and social activation of the neighborhoods and districts of Murcia through citizen participation.

Its objective is to enhance the identity of each population nucleus through the development of urban and cultural activities. The actions include a football school in El Pozo, a film initiative to promote integration, an employment and training program, and urban regeneration actions, such as the recovery of the four main meeting points of the neighborhood, the pergolas and the rehabilitation from the palm grove of La Paz.Other improvement actions framed in the ADN Urbano La Paz project are the conditioning of the sports courts, the surroundings of the Plaza de Abastos, the creation of accessible routes and renovation of sidewalks, in addition to the development of the green areas of different spaces and Avenida Primero de Mayo.Different methods against the tiger mosquitoThe device is made up of three SUVs, equipped with a powerful spray gun and four hand cannons, plus 10 fumigation packs for scuppers.

In addition, three drones and a helicopter are being used, if possible, to locate mosquito outbreaks in hard-to-reach areas. In short, by land methods, continuous work continues on public foci, such as accessible boulevards, irrigation canals, city scuppers and districts, as well as any other site with public access and presenting water stagnations that may constitute a possible breeding focus. In this way, the Municipal Health Services of the City Council continue with the campaign against the tiger mosquito in various parts of the urban area and districts throughout the municipality. The works are focusing on the treatment of scuppers, to avoid the proliferation of larvae, and attention to neighborhood complaints in the municipality as a whole.

It is also working on boulevards and in garden lanes.Citizen collaborationDue to recent rains and high temperatures in recent weeks, the Department of Sports and Health, led by Felipe Coello, through the Municipal Health Services, recalls the importance of citizen collaboration in the fight against this insect. The mayor points out that most of the outbreaks are in private areas, in the accumulations of water that are formed, for example, in private containers, pots and patios, as well as in untreated or abandoned pools, so the collaboration of the neighbors in these cases is essential."The coincidence between high temperature and water are the main factors that favor the proliferation of mosquitoes and now we focus all our efforts on fighting them for the health of people and the quality of life of citizens," says the mayor.
