The intensive action plan for treatment and clearing will be carried out again throughout the municipality starting Monday (23/05/2020)

| The operators have already cleaned 300,000 linear meters of track using around 22,000 liters of herbicide treatment | The Department of Sustainable Mobility and Youth, through the Cleaning and Waste Collection Service and Ferrovial Services, continues with the intensive action plan for treatment and clearing in order to eliminate weeds and condition the municipality to the new phases of the de-escalation, which began on April 27.Until May 16, the operators have already cleaned 300,000 linear meters, using for these tasks around 22,000 liters of non-selective active ingredient herbicide treatment preparation solution. The works will continue to be carried out until the end of the month, from Monday to Saturday, during the day and at night, by the device made up of twenty-four operators, eight pressure washers with fumigation equipment, as well as three back-pack teams for detailed work. These tasks began on April 27 and until May 16, all areas of the municipality, neighborhoods and all districts have been reached.

Even so, a second application will be made in the coming weeks in those most affected areas that require it.The intense past rains, together with less pedestrian traffic, in compliance with what was dictated by the state of alarm at the time, made this vegetation grow remarkablyThe elimination of weeds is being carried out through herbicide treatments, according to the indications of Royal Decree 1311/2012 of September 14, which establishes the framework for action to achieve a sustainable use of plant protection products.Prior to the tasks, an inspection of areas was carried out, choosing the most appropriate product depending on the terrain, as well as the type of vegetation to be treated, determining the exact amount of product necessary to solve the problem. These clearing works consist of eliminating and preventing wild vegetation from crowding urban areas.

For the correct development, the mechanical clearing works are complemented with the application of the legally authorized plant protection products, being necessary to indicate the treated areas, for security reasons.

The clearing tasks are complemented with herbicidal solutions applied to the cleaned areas to delay the growth of this type of vegetation and avoid, as far as possible, the proliferation of insects. As the mayor has expressed "in recent weeks, a comprehensive cleaning and cleaning work is being carried out in neighborhoods and districts, where these weeds are found, to achieve an intense improvement in the urban environment."Starting Monday, when the municipality enters Phase 2 and to cause the least impact on citizens, the schedules have been adapted so that in the day shift, the fumigation work is carried out from 6:00 a.m.

to 9:45 a.m.

h.

The mechanical clearing works are carried out throughout the day, both in the city and in districts.

At night, the usual work schedule is followed, adding this new task.

These works are added to those that have been carried out around the disinfection of various areas of action, continuing disinfection and cleaning work, adapted to each new phase. In the development of the work, the necessary sanitary security measures have been included as personal protective equipment and tasks have been planned so that there is a safety distance both between the operators and between them and the neighbors. For an optimal accomplishment of the task, the citizens continue to be informed in a timely manner, through the publication of the continuation of the calendar of actions on the sustainable Murcia website and the social networks attached to this page.

Likewise, informative posters are being placed in the places of action, and specific areas are identified, to prevent third-party access to the work areas.
