Almost 2 million are invested in 50 infrastructure and service improvement works in the districts of Murcia (02/03/2020)

The regional government allocated almost two million euros to improve the infrastructure and services of the districts of the city of Murcia.

This is, specifically, 1.8 million euros that, through the 2018-2019 Pedan Plan, have allowed 50 actions to be carried out to improve, repair or condition public spaces and buildings, streets, sidewalks, roads or highways in the districts of the city of Murcia.

The general director of Local Administration, Francisco Abril, visited today the improvement and renovation of a children's playground in the Aljucer district.

The action has consisted of the renovation of the ground, for which a continuous rubber pavement has been installed in the area that offers greater security, and a fence that also increases the safety of the facilities.

This work is included in a larger project in which other playgrounds have also been renovated in the hamlet of Los Martínez del Puerto and in which 99,646 euros have been invested.

During his visit, the director general of Local Administration stressed "the character of proximity and proximity that have this type of work, since they are actions that have a direct and immediate impact on improving the quality of life of the inhabitants of these districts ".

The Pedanías Plan, which for the 2020-2021 biennium has another 1.8 million euros in budget for the districts of the city of Murcia, is an initiative aimed at helping municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitants to carry out this type of proximity works, and complements the Works and Services Plan, destined this time to municipalities with less than 50,000 inhabitants.

For the years 2020-2021, the total budget of this Plan of Pedanías is 4 million euros, which are complemented in turn with the 12 million euros that are invested in the Works and Services Plan.

"These initiatives are an example of this Government's commitment to municipalities and local development, a commitment that this year translates into an increase in the money that the Community allocates to municipalities to manage it directly, which increases more than 4 percent to exceed 75 million euros in 2020 ", concluded the General Director of Local Administration.
