José Ballesta presented this new product, which will be present throughout the programming of Murcia Spanish Capital of Gastronomy, with tastings, workshops, competitions and talks.

It is a 'blend' - a mixture - 100% Arabic, balanced, creamy and full-bodied, in which notes of caramel, vanilla and butter can be appreciated.

The Central Office, located on the ground floor of the Romea Theater, will host this afternoon a talk about the origins, processes and denominations of coffee, at 6 pm.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Minister of Tourism, Youth and Sports, María Cristina Sánchez, presented this morning Café Capital, a new product that was born expressly on the occasion of the appointment of Murcia as the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2020, a 'blend' - a mixture - 100% Arabic, balanced, creamy and full-bodied, in which, when served in a cup, notes of caramel, vanilla and butter can be appreciated.

“Café Capital is a flavor that emerged as a tribute to our Gastronomic Capital, a flavor that was born exclusively to celebrate this appointment,” said José Ballesta, who added that “it is an exquisite and healthy product that was present at FITUR 2020, where it was announced throughout Spain, and that will be present throughout the programming of Murcia Spanish Capital of Gastronomy ”.

Specifically, Café Capital is a product created by Sazillo Tea & Coffee, which is already available in the restaurants and bars that collaborate with this Murcia brand.

The event was attended by the manager of Salzillo Tea & Coffee, José Gomariz.

Tomorrow Tuesday, February 25, a practical course of Latte Art will be held, which will be held in the bar of the Central Office, with a theoretical and practical class on the emulsion of milk and the decoration of drawings on coffee, at 18 hours.

This workshop will also be open to the public until capacity is reached.

The first 15 attendees - by order of arrival - can participate by actively receiving the classes and the rest as spectators.

Asian competition at street level

This Wednesday, February 26, there will be a contest of Asian coffees, in the Plaza Julián Romea, at 18 hours.

The participants will show how this type of coffee is made, characteristic of the Comarca del Campo de Cartagena, at street level, with an expert jury that will evaluate the elaborations of the participating baristas.

"This capitality is an opportunity to project nationally and internationally the brand 'Region of Murcia', working together the 45 municipalities to value our elaborations, Denominations of Origin, chefs and restaurants, raw materials and brands of our land," said the alderman

The objective of these days, held under the seal of Café Capital, is to make coffee known in all its varieties, using different utensils such as special jugs to emulsify milk, technologically advanced coffee machines, cups designed to enhance the flavor of this product, as well as to work on the latest techniques when preparing this product, using different types of milk, spirits and essences.
