The City Council shows in ´EcoMobility´ its fleet of electric vehicles (22/02/2020)

The City Council exhibits its fleet of electric vehicles 'EcoMobility Murcia 2020', the first sample of the ecological vehicle organized by the consistory in collaboration with the newspaper La Verdad, which is held throughout the day at the Artillery Barracks.

The Councilors of Sustainable Mobility and Youth, Rebeca Prez, and the Sustainable Development and Huerta, Antonio Navarro, have participated in this event that has shown the models that the session has through its various concessionaires, who are renewing their fleet for the environmental benefit of the city and the municipality.

In this way, you can see vehicles of parks and gardens, cleaning of interiors, traffic light maintenance, cleaning and waste collection, in addition to a new prototype for the collection of cardboard that is currently being tested to measure its autonomy, its distance capacity and cargo volume.

'EcoMobility' offers, until 18.00, different actions for the whole family, with a kart circuit for the little ones, presentations of the latest technological developments in the sector, as well as the opinion of experts.

In this way, the first of the acts has been the 'Eco Dialogues' space, where councilors Rebeca Prez and Antonio Navarro have intervened, exposing to the attendees the measures taken by the council in this area, such as the Electric Vehicle strategies and the of clean air.

"The City Council is immersed in a process of transformation of our transport model and over the next few months we will implement new electrical means," said Rebeca Prez.

In this regard, the new network of bike lanes, the gradual renewal of the bus fleet and the acquisition of new vehicles powered by biofuels, hybrids or electric vehicles, the creation of deterrent parking lots, etc. stand out.

Likewise, the councilor Antonio Navarro has indicated that with respect to the Clean Air strategy “progress is being made with actions that allow raising the environmental quality for the residents of the municipality, achieving a decarbonized city through a significant reduction of polluting emissions”.

Sustainable mobility is also a fundamental pillar of the Smart City Strategic Plan, which is being carried out through the MiMurcia project.

“It is a smart city model based on energy efficiency and sustainability to improve people's lives,” says Rebeca Prez.

Specifically, the consistory and Iberdrola signed a collaboration agreement a month ago for the development of the pilot project of infrastructures for rapid recharging of electric vehicles in the city of Murcia, which will enable 10 new express electrolineras, free of charge, in the municipality .

Together with the councilors, other experts have participated, such as the General Director of Energy, Industrial and Mining of the Region of Murcia, Eduardo Pin Crceres;

institutional delegate of Iberdrola in the Region of Murcia, Patricio Valverde;

Commercial Manager of Iberdrola in the Region, Itziar Prez Lled;

and the commercial manager of Iberdrola specialist in electric mobility issues, Pedro Serrano, among others.
