Navarro: "Our commitment to the electric vehicle is undeniable" (12/02/2020)

The Councilor for Sustainable Development and Huerta, Antonio Navarro, has responded to the socialist councilor Andrés Guerrero, who "may be due to ignorance, but many of the actions related to the electric vehicle they propose are already being done."

Thus, among the actions already underway to encourage the use of this type of vehicles, Navarro has highlighted "the 75% discount on the tax on mechanical traction vehicles for electric vehicles and 30% on hybrids"

"We have also created a network of municipal free charging points, whose locations were selected by a participatory process, which will grow in the coming months with the installation of another ten fast charging points, thanks to the Iberdrola agreement, which will place us at the head of Spain in these environmental policies, "said the councilor.

Navarro has also highlighted the subsidy program for the purchase of electric vehicles, and to provide community garages with charging infrastructure or the agreement with the Murcia Parking Association that has allowed the installation of charging points and that will allow DGT-labeled vehicles with the '0 Emissions' label can park one hour for free in public car parks.

The councilor has recommended to the PSOE "read the adaptation and mitigation strategy where the update of the inventory of CO2 emissions is collected and where it is exposed that they were reduced in 2015 by 24.5%. Now we work for the implementation of different actions that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 40% by 2030. "

It should be remembered that Murcia has a Local Strategy of the Electric Vehicle of the City of Murcia that was approved in 2017 as a result of a participatory process and that has been awarded and recognized nationally.

Its objective is to reduce the emissions of polluting gases associated with urban activity and is part of the commitments acquired through the signing of the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy

These actions are part of the new Metropolitan Transportation and Sustainable Mobility Model of the City of Murcia Strategy 2030, which proposes mobility as a motor development project, social cohesion and territorial vertebration, articulating a public mobility system to address to the challenges of the future.
