The execution period is four months with a budget exceeding 131,000 euros |
On Monday, remodeling work will begin on Avenida de la Constitución de Murcia with a four-week execution period and a global budget of 131. 937 euros.
During the development of the works, the traffic will remain cut in two of the four lanes currently existing on this avenue, the other two being always enabled, one in each direction of the traffic.
The Councilor for Development, Mario Gomez, stressed that "these works will allow to increase safety in the area, reducing the risk of accidents and improving accessibility, both for pedestrians and drivers, in an artery through which about 12,000 daily vehicles".
This project, developed thanks to the collaboration between the Department of Development and Sustainable Mobility and Youth, includes the renewal of the road, replacing the entire pavement with an asphalt agglomerate that will slow down its deterioration.
Likewise, the number of pedestrian crossings will be reduced by half, leaving one by crossing the four adjacent streets.
Access to pedestrian crossings will be adapted to current regulations regarding accessibility, leaving a slope not exceeding 8 percent.
Development of the works
During the first week of execution, the west side of the avenue will be operated (Circular Plaza-Gran Vía direction) initiating the actions in the four existing fords in the central area of ​​the same, that is, the fords at the intersections with Junterones and Doctor Marañón streets.
Throughout the second week, the proceedings will begin on the opposite sidewalk, carrying out the remodeling of the central fords, as in the previous week, at the intersections of Avenida de la Constitución with Lepanto Street and Plaza Precious.
The fords of the extremes at the confluence of Avenida de la Constitución with Plaza Circular and Avenida de la Libertad will run throughout the third week.
Once all the fords have been made, the milling of the avenue and the cleaning of some slopes will proceed.
For the tasks of milling and agglomerate the avenue will be divided into two zones of two lanes each.
The east side of the avenue will begin to be milled, that is, the one closest to Alfonso X diverting traffic along the two lanes on the other side.
When the milling tasks are finished, the necessary crossings will be executed for a possible traffic light forecast in the authorized crosswalks.
Once milled, agglomerated and marked this area of ​​the road traffic will begin to circulate through it and the process will be repeated in the two remaining lanes.
