Professor Antonio Guirao Piñera, from the University of Murcia, awarded at the final of the international contest "Science in Action 2019" (08/10/2019)

The Professor of Physics at the University of Murcia, Antonio Guirao, has been awarded an Honorable Mention at the end of the international Science in Action contest, one of the most important educational competitions in the country.

He has achieved this with the "We celebrate with physics the 50 years of the arrival of man on the moon" project, which has participated in the "Physics and Society" modality.

The work also received the Agora award for staging granted by a jury of students.

The award-winning work explains, with activities and demonstrations of physics for all ages, the knowledge and advances necessary for the human being to reach the Moon in 1969. On the other hand, the work exposes the enormous social and media impact that this extraordinary scientific and technological achievement that is now 50 years old.

The Apollo 11 mission route and the fascination that the Moon has always aroused are used to show physics in an attractive way to society.

The work reached this final after a previous selection of works, which were exposed to the public at the scientific demonstration fair of the twentieth edition of Science in Action, held this year Alcoy from October 4 to 6.

Science in Action is an international competition whose objective is to present science and technology in an attractive and motivating way, so that young people and the public are interested in it.

Professors, researchers, students and disseminators of Spanish or Portuguese speaking participate in any of the scientific disciplines.
