The 'Parks, Music and Action' program contributes to the 2030 Forestry Strategy through the planting of trees and flowers, one of the activities offered by this initiative launched by the Department of Urban Development and Modernization of the Administration, which directs José Guillen.

More than 350 outdoor workshops make up the program for the entire month of October in more than 50 parks and gardens in the municipality of Murcia.

Among its offer, the planting of trees and flowers stands out in order to promote respect for the environment among the citizens.

Attendees can also enjoy potting workshops with recycled materials, organic seedbeds and creating toys with recycled material.

Specifically, throughout this weekend, more than a hundred plant species have been planted, including trees (bahuinias), petunias, irises, myrtle and lentisks, in Murcia Río, Artillery Barracks and in a garden of the hamlet of El Palmar.

These actions add up to the nearly 1,000 trees that have also been planted in Corvera by the Morus Alba Association and the CEIBs students Isabel Bellvis.

Children are the protagonists of the activity.

Together with the help of the monitors and their families, they dig the hole and plant the bush, tree or flower.

In this way, "we contribute to improving the green areas of our municipality in a fun and family way, promoting respect for the environment and promoting its conservation," said Councilman José Guillén.

The activities continue throughout the week and to participate in them it is necessary to register on the following page: https://eventos.murcia.es/39665/detail/parques-musica-accion.-edicion-octubre.html.

Urban Foresta 2030: mitigate climate change and reduce CO2

This revegetation action is framed within the Urban Forestry Strategy 2030 of the City of Murcia, the roadmap that will mark the urban environmental and landscape planning over the next decade, and that will double the number of existing trees in the set of the municipality, reaching 200,000 copies.

Trees in urban environments mitigate the effects of climate change and lower CO2, provide shade, decrease temperature, favor biodiversity, improve health and beautify the landscape.
