Murcia will host the II National Forum of Seniors "Breaking Myths" (16/09/2019)

In the meeting, which will be held on October 1 in the Assembly Hall of the Cajamurcia Foundation, the current role of the elderly in society will be addressed with the aim of breaking stereotypes, combating discrimination and influencing the opportunities it represents the aging

Facing the role of older people in today's society, combating negative and discriminatory prejudices towards the collective and highlighting the opportunities represented by aging will be some of the aspects that will be addressed in the II National Forum of ANAEDE Major "Breaking Myths", which will be held on October 1 at the Cajamurcia Assembly Hall, coinciding with the celebration of World Seniors Day.

The Councilor for Seniors, Disability and Development Cooperation, Paqui Pérez, who has been accompanied this morning at the press conference by the mayor of Social and Family Rights, Pilar Torres, will be responsible for inaugurating these days, along with the president in Murcia of the National Association of Women Entrepreneurs, Professionals, Executives and Executives (ANAEDE), María Dolores Bolarín.

During the celebration of the II Forum "Breaking Myths", which will feature specialists, professionals and keynote speakers, among them the medalists of athletics of the World Championship of Veterans Angel Salinas and Antonio Sales, will talk about changes in the structure of the population and the impact of aging in the European Union, specifically in Spain.

Breaking Stereotypes

It will also influence senior talent and the need to combat the negative and discriminatory prejudices that exist towards older people, many of whom suffer from the stigma of a negative image that must be broken, especially affecting the opportunities that It represents aging.

In this regard, Councilwoman Paqui Pérez has stressed that there is a majority of men and women over 65 who do not give up living fully and maintaining an active role in society.

"We have the responsibility to end the stereotypes of old age by sensitizing the population of the knowledge and experiences that our elders can continue to provide, highlighting the opportunities represented by poisoning," he said.

For her part, the president of ANAEDE in Murcia has highlighted the enormous potential and ability to transmit and teach of the elderly and has stressed the need to continue working to break the myths around the collective and eliminate discrimination.
