The floral portico of Los Peligros will receive the Virgin of Fuensanta tomorrow on her Camino del Carmen to the Cathedral (04/09/2019)

The arch, composed of more than 7,000 floral elements, is a recreation of the classic arches with modernist dyes that once adorned the city.

Three gangs will sing to the Virgen de la Fuensanta in their courtship from El Carmen to the Cathedral.

Upon reaching the Town Hall, petals of 10,000 roses will rain on the Patron Saint of Murcia.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Culture and Heritage Recovery, Jesús Pacheco, today supervised the installation works of the floral arch that will bridge the Danger Bridge, during the Murcia Fair 2019, and tomorrow by the Later you will receive the Virgin of Fuensanta.

The mayor also advanced today the news that has been incorporated this year to the processional procession that will accompany the Patroness from El Carmen to the Cathedral.

The design of the portico, which has a height of 12 m, with two columns of 6 m and an arch of a radius of 7m, is a replica of the classic arches with modernist dyes that adorned the city in the past, thus recovering a tradition of the Fair of Murcia.

The porch is composed of more than 7,000 floral elements: 6,250 boxwood branches, 200 aromatic eucalyptus branches, 200 garden ivy branches and 600 olive ash oak branches.

The two large vases that crown each of the arch columns are decorated with 30 river jopos.

The arch is crowned on both sides with two large silver Murcia shields 2 m high.

Six flags of Murcia, the Region and Spain have also been placed, such as those presiding over the city's ancient arches.

New watermarks

As a novelty this year, “the arch of the Danger Bridge, which turns 301 years since its construction began in 1718, incorporates new watermarks, consisting of four rosettes of a meter and a half in diameter that, as a medal, decorate the existing space on both sides of the shield of Murcia â€, highlighted José Ballesta.

The installation of the arch has begun this morning 8.00 hours and will continue throughout the day, so that everything is ready tomorrow Thursday, facing the descent of the Patroness, who will leave his Shrine at 3.30 pm and arrive around 7.30 pm to Carmen, for later transfer to La Catedral.

Traffic, both pedestrian and road, will be restored tonight.

Night lighting

This year, you will have special lighting for the night with 4,000 microluces that outline the columns and the arch.

In addition, garlands of flowers and plants will decorate the existing street lamps on both sides of the bridge.

The arch preserves the architectural environment and its elements, not requiring anchors or fixings.

Crews will sing to the Virgin in a procession with music from 'Las Musas' de Guadalupe

With respect to the arrival of the Patroness, the mayor said that the procession of the Virgin from his departure from the church of Carmen until his arrival in La Catedral will be composed of horsemen who will carry the flags of Spain, Region and Murcia.

The delegation will be made up of representatives of Moors and Christians, Peñas Huertanas, Brotherhoods of Holy Week, Brotherhoods of Glory and the Ladies and Gentlemen of Fuensanta.

The passage with the Virgin, which will be followed by the authorities, will be escorted by four gala police.

This year, as a novelty, the musical accompaniment will be performed by the Musical Association 'Las Musas' de Guadalupe.

In addition, there will be three crews at three different points that will sing to the Virgin: the Torreagüera Gang, at the intersection of Torre de Romo with a Floridablanca garden;

the Zaraiche Gang, on the side of the Floridablanca garden, at the height of the old cinemas;

and the Benditas Ánimas de Patiño Gang, passing the Danger Bridge, in front of the Reina Victoria building

When the Virgin of the Fuensanta crosses the floral arch of the Danger Bridge, rockets will be launched and, a few minutes later, and for the second year, the great blow to the Virgin of the Fuensanta will take place from the roof of the Town Hall, with the petals of More than 10,000 roses.

Another of the novelties of this year is the installation in the lanterns of Alameda de Colón and Plaza Camachos de Banderolas with the work that the painter Almela Costa dedicated to the Virgin of Fuensanta in 1927.
