This afternoon culminates in Murcia the solidarity march of 'On Bicycle Against Cancer' after traveling 1,150 kilometers (30/08/2019)

The national challenge ends for the first time in the municipality of Murcia, today, at 5 pm, at the Maternal and Child Hospital of La Arrixaca.

The platform 'On Bicycle against cancer', which this year celebrates the third edition of the race, has already raised more than 10,400 euros to be allocated to the Association of Family Members of Children with Cancer.

Eleven cyclists started this trip a week ago in Santiago de Compostela;

At each stage, athletes have been added, reaching 40 people.

The Councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, and the Councilor for Sustainable Development and Huerta, Antonio Navarro, will receive this afternoon at the Maternal and Child Hospital of La Arrixaca to the participants of the solidarity march 'On Bicycle Against Cancer', which began in Santiago de Compostela seven days ago and culminates today in Murcia, after stopping at more than 100 Spanish towns, such as La Bañeza (León), Astorga, Salamanca, Zamora, Talavera de la Reina and Ciudad Real, covering a total of 1,150 kilometers to fight childhood cancer.

For the first time, this solidarity challenge will conclude in the municipality of Murcia, at 5:00 p.m., at the entrance of the Maternal and Child Hospital of La Arrixaca;

a trip that began with 11 cyclists, who have been adding more athletes at each stage, to reach 40 people, of which 5 of them are Murcia.

The meeting will also be attended by the general director of Public Health and Addictions, José Carlos Vicente, the medical director of the Virgen de la Arrixaca University Clinical Hospital, Yolanda Morales, the president of the Association of Relatives of Children with Cancer of the Region of Murcia (AFACMUR ), Francisco Palazón, the manager of AFACMUR, Lourdes Albaladejo, relatives and children of the association hospitalized, and friends and family of cyclists.

Hospitalized children will display a banner made by themselves;

a large golden bow will also be displayed as a symbol of awareness of the fight against cancer.

More than 10,400 euros allocated to the fight against cancer

Through the sale of 200 shirts (out of stock) and more than 3,000 bracelets, and through donations made to the web, the initiative has received more than 10,400 euros, which will go to AFACMUR.

'On Bicycle Against Cancer' is a project that was born in 2017, promoted by the young man of Manchego Sergio Cepeda, 28, who decided to organize a solidarity trip from Santiago de Compostela to Santiago de la Rivera, raising micro-donations through social networks;

method known as 'crowdfundoing', with the aim of raising one euro for every kilometer traveled.

He traveled on his bicycle from Santiago de Compostela to Santiago de La Rivera.

In 2018, the platform organized another solidarity trip, this time from Paris to the University and Polytechnic Hospital of the Faith, in Valencia, in which eight cyclists participated.
