“Therefore, less banner and more armchair because the Rex Cinema must be saved by entering inside, consuming cinema and occupying its locations, and not at the door, which is what the socialist party does,” says the municipal head of Culture.
"Since we learned about this news, we contacted the property to check the situation of the room and study all possible ways," says Jesús Pacheco, who adds that "finding the best solution has always been our goal from the beginning "
"The future of this room worries us, like any citizen, but we must remember that it is a private management and in the face of these negotiations we cannot do anything," he says.
"What we can do is help ensure the continuity of the room looking for all possible ways to attract more public, because what is clear is that the only thing that guarantees its permanence is going to the cinema," says Pacheco.
In this way, the person in charge of Culture affirms that what is pursued is to seek its continuity by complementing its usual programming with cultural activities that help the promotion of Murcian talent.
Thus, the City Council studies an agreement with the management company to maintain the room through the implementation of new lines that promote young talent, the realization of accessible culture projects and respect for the building protection regulations.
