Murcia City Council is studying an agreement with the Rex Cinema management company to guarantee the continuity of the theater, complementing its usual programming with cultural activities that help the promotion of Murcian talent.
This was announced by the Councilor for Culture and Heritage Recovery, Jesús Pacheco, after several meetings held with the management company.
"Since we had knowledge of this news, we contacted the property to check the situation of the room and study all possible ways," says Jesus Pacheco.
Specifically, last Tuesday it was studied to maintain its continuity and avoid its closure on the basis of three pillars: the promotion of young talent, implementation of accessible culture projects and respect for the building protection regulations.
In this way, the City Council will work on the implementation of new cultural initiatives aimed at promoting Murcian talent and young filmmakers, as well as the organization of training cycles and activities.
Likewise, new promotional routes will be studied for various sectors of society, for example, for people with disabilities or the elderly, "well, let's not forget that Rex Cinema is the most accessible room".
Another agreement with the management company is that any action taken in relation to the property must take into account all urban planning regulations for the protection of the environment, as well as the building itself.
