Mario Gómez, hiring manager, signs the new contract for maintenance, conservation and restoration of gardens, trees, medium and roundabouts (27/08/2019)

The contracts have been awarded to STV Gestión, SL and UTE Jardines de Murcia for an amount of € 51,752,316 with an end date of November 30, 2022.

The First Deputy Mayor and head of contracting, Mario Gómez, today signed the last two contracts related to the award of the maintenance, conservation and restoration of the gardens, trees, as well as medium and roundabouts of the municipality of Murcia corresponding to the lots 1 and 2 of the 7 in total that contemplated the Technical and Administrative Conditions.

These lots coincide with the two most important;

whose object, among other services and works, involves the set-up in gardens of different neighborhoods and districts, as well as in medium and roundabouts.

Within these lots there is also the supply of different materials and furniture.

These contracts relating to lots 1 and 2, signed today by the Councilor for Development, Mario Gomez, amount to € 51,752,316 of the total amount for which the contract was awarded (€ 58,997,161), with a duration until November 30, 2022, extendable for one more year.

It is still pending to resolve with the winning companies some payments not satisfied for work done and accrued in the previous contract, ended last January, and pending settlement until today.

Mario Gómez, declares that "from the Department of Development and Contracting we work so that situations like the ones we are encountering, and this is another example, do not occur again"

"We must be rigorous with public procurement procedures, as it is the only possible formula to offer legal certainty to companies and guarantee the best service to our neighbors," says Mario Gomez.

For the mayor "the current legislation offers us sufficient tools so that the contests, awards and contracts of works and public services are carried out in an agile way without having to improvise unsafe shortcuts", therefore, states that "In public procurement we will prioritize transparency, competition and legal certainty. I am convinced that being rigorous with the procedures will be more agile than improvising solutions that generate more problems "
