This special device is composed of different municipal services such as Local Police, Civil Protection, Firefighters, Traffic, Murcia Water, Street Cleaning, Street Lighting and Parks and Gardens.

The State Meteorological Agency has raised its warning of adverse methodological phenomena due to rain this Tuesday, which can reach 40 liters per square meter in one hour in Vega del Segura, Campo de Cartagena and Mazarrón and Valle del Guadalentín, Lorca and Águilas.

The agents, depending on the experience in other rain episodes, will establish different control points although they will pay special attention to Espinardo, Beniaján, Sangonera la Seca, Cabezo de Torres, Churra, La Alberca and Sangonera la Verde because these are the most important districts affected when it rains.

What is intended with this plan is to intervene as quickly as possible and respond immediately to the requirements of the residents of the municipality to minimize the effects of possible heavy rains, establishing priority actions.

The Local Police will be responsible for coordinating all the operations that must be taken when a warning bulletin is received for adverse weather events from the State Meteorological Agency.

In addition, the Local Police will deploy its troops in urban areas and districts to take the necessary measures to regulate and cut traffic, using fences and police tape.

Likewise, it is controlled that there are no incidents that endanger people and vehicles.

Firefighters are responsible, prioritizing the actions, to rescue those people and drivers who are trapped in a flooded area, put out fires in power lines, drain the water and drain flooded low.

Civil Protection volunteers will form a checkpoint to collaborate with Local Police and Firefighters in those situations that are necessary.

On the other hand, the Cleaning Services will work on the elimination of water bags and puddles by means of vacuum machinery, placement of the displaced containers and cleaning of the drag caused by the rain.

The operators of the Parks and Gardens Service have already reviewed the large woodland in those sensitive areas to anticipate possible branch falls and cleaned the leaves and scuppers located in the gardens.

In addition, sand collection has been done as an initial shock measure to avoid flooding in case of flooding.

Emuasa has also carried out since this month of August the scheduled cleaning of 1,800 scuppers located in the urban area of Murcia and districts, specifically in critical points associated with flood zones in order to guarantee the correct evacuation of rainwater.
