De esta manera, el Ayuntamiento de Murcia se hace cargo de la conservación de un total de 37.883 m2 de zona verde, que alberga más de 2.200 ejemplares de árboles de 25 especies distintas, entre las que destacan tradicionales (higuera, morera, granado, jinjolero, etc.), de gran porte (pino, ciprés, palmera datilera…), y de floración abundante (árbol del amor, el almendro, eucalipto rojo no invasivo, árbol de las pagodas, acacia del Japón, falsa acacia, etc.).

La Vía Verde conecta a pie y en bicicleta las pedanías del Sur, a lo largo de un recorrido de 8,5 km, un proyecto de transformación del municipio cuyos trabajos permitirá incorporar 200.000 m2 de espacios de alto valor paisajístico, conectando la Huerta y las pedanías de la Costera Sur con la ciudad de Murcia.

Hace unas semanas se presentó la II Fase de la Vía Verde, que supone la ampliación de este corredor saludable con la apertura de nuevos tramos peatonales y ciclistas, la creación de jardines, zonas verdes y un palmeral de 3.000 m2, la instalación de elementos deportivos de ocio, así como la recuperación de apeaderos y estaciones ferroviarias.

A few weeks ago the Second Phase of the Greenway was presented, which involves the extension of this healthy corridor with the opening of new pedestrian and cycling sections, the creation of gardens, green areas and a 3,000 m2 palm grove, the installation of sports elements of leisure, as well as the recovery of terraces and railway stations.

 

The battery of performances of the Second Phase will directly benefit the districts of Los Dolores, San José de la Vega, Beniaján, Torreagüera, Los Ramos, Alquerías and Zeneta, where different improvement works will be carried out on this path that crosses the old railroad layout.

Conexión Sur

This public initiative of high landscape value is part of the strategic plan 'South Connection', which also includes actions such as 'Murcia River II', for which Segura is recovering its centrality, ceasing to be a barrier to become a meeting point between the neighbors;

and the elimination of the surface railway route as it passes through Murcia, with which the city will also gain more than 200,000 square meters of public space.
