Murcia will host the final of the 3rd edition of the Best Unilever Food Solutions Rice Contest (09/08/2019)

The rice tradition of the Levant is more than proven, and the Region of Murcia has several recipes made with this ingredient among its most typical dishes, such as the Mar Menor cauldron rice, as well as one of the three unique designations of origin of rice that They exist in Spain: Calasparra rice.

The established gastronomic tradition of this region makes its capital the perfect setting to celebrate the final of the Best Rice competition, organized by Unilever Food Solutions.

The third edition of the contest will take place on November 6 and its main objective is to boost the catering sector.

In addition, the Unilever Food Solutions initiative also wants to value rice, one of the most consumed foods in Spain, and the ability of chefs across the country to innovate from this fundamental ingredient in Spanish cuisine.

For Pedro García Rex, Councilor for Employment, Economic Promotion and Tourism, these types of events are very important in his commitment to boost tourism in Murcia.

The mayor says he will support and enhance any type of activity that highlights the great gastronomy of the municipality.

The contest is aimed at all those hospitality professionals who run bars, restaurants or other gastronomic establishments that prepare their recipe and share it through the Unilever Food Solutions website.

Customers, meanwhile, will have the opportunity to vote their favorite rice on the same platform.

Both customers and restaurateurs may opt for several gifts for participation in the Best Rice 2019 competition.

Best Rice 2019 will have a team full of prestigious professionals to choose the best rice in Spain.

Among the jurors will be Kiko Moya, chef of the L'Escaleta restaurant with two Michelin stars.

In addition, the final will be presented by the journalist Verónica Zumalacárregui and chef Sergio Fernández.

Another novelty of this year will be the donation of 100g of rice to the Spanish Federation of Food Banks for each registered vote.

Thus, the participation of consumers will inform more people about the recipes presented and help the Food Bank to distribute one of the most consumed foods in Spain.
