Huermur supports the cultural protection of the unique neo-historicist building on Murcia's Lepanto street (07/08/2019)

Huermur has submitted allegations to the period of public information of the procedure for the declaration of an inventory good, in favor of the building located on Lepanto street in Murcia.

A property that responds to the parameters of post-war neo-historicist architecture, and whose facade treasures unique sculpted panels that collect traditional themes of Murcia and its garden.

The conservation entity has also requested precautionary measures from the Ministry of Education and Culture to stop the degradation of the building, as well as its urgent restoration.

The Association for the Conservation of the Huerta and the Patrimony of Murcia (Huermur), within the actions of the PatrimurSOS Plan, has submitted allegations supporting the procedure of declaration of good inventory, in favor of the building located in the central street Lepanto of Murcia initiated by the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Huermur remarks that it is a unique property that has an undoubted testimonial value, related to the urban renewal of Murcia after the civil war, being one of the first private buildings in the northern expansion of the city.

Formally, the building responds to the parameters of post-war neo-historicist architecture, in an attempt to adapt certain baroque evocations to a high-rise residential building.

The uniqueness of this building is substantiated in the presence of curious sculpted panels, of rough invoice, which collect traditional themes of Murcia and its garden.

Huermur, in addition to supporting this necessary protection under Law 4/2007 of Cultural Heritage of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, has requested the Directorate General of Cultural Property to adopt the precautionary measures that are necessary to curb the degradation suffered by the building and its facades, to prevent the loss of materials that is also accused and visible, and thus ensure its effective conservation and protection.
