The SEMAS serves 57 homeless people in the 'Heat Operation' (06/08/2019)

The team of the Mobile Emergency Social Assistance Service (SEMAS), under the Department of Social Rights Family, led by Pilar Torres, intensifies attention to people at risk of social exclusion, with the aim of alleviating the physical consequences of heat exposure

The device launched has so far served 57 people, providing water, food, clothing, transportation, emergency accommodation and transfer or accompaniment to Abandoned Jesus and RAIS.

"This service is developed by establishing personal contact, studying their situation, and generating a link that facilitates the process of intervention and social inclusion of these people who live in a situation of exclusion," explained Pilar Torres

The SEMAS carries out a special monitoring around noon and afternoon, to avoid the effects that health can cause prolonged exposure to high temperatures.

They carry out their work in teams of two people, made up of a social worker and a local police, serving the most at risk citizens, who are provided with relevant hydration means, while being informed about the strategies that can Adopt to reduce the impact of heat on your body.

They are also informed about the different municipal social resources at their disposal.

This work is added to what is also done from the council so that high temperatures are not a source of problems for the elderly in the municipality.

Thus, the Telecare Service serves 2,919 seniors this summer.
