UCAM will participate in the European flavor routes (06/08/2019)

The Murcian institutions UCAM and the National Technological Center of Conservation and Food will participate, together with seven institutions from Italy, France and Portugal, in the European gastronomic project `Passeurs de Culture´, co-financed by the European Commission through the Erasmus + call.

For three years they will boost the gastronomic heritage of these countries through the training of young gastronomy professionals.

The new European project aims to create territorial gastronomic inventories with the main products of the area, provide training modules on the quality of its products, sensory analysis workshops and historical context of the country's gastronomic heritage, among others.

In addition, in each of the partner countries (Spain, Italy, France and Portugal) a series of European events will be held, 'European routes of flavor', which will turn these young people into gastronomic ambassadors of their regions.

The UCAM, through the Degree in Gastronomy and the Office of International Projects, participates in the project in order to open new frontiers to undergraduate and FP students, and to complement the training of students with this type of international initiatives.

"The participation in this European project consolidates UCAM's commitment to gastronomy and the area of ​​nutrition, and represents an opportunity for researchers and students to enrich their knowledge through stays and collaborations with other research centers in France, Italy and Portugal, establishing the foundations for future collaborative training projects, "explains José María Cayuela, principal investigator of the project at UCAM.
