The three Day Stays Centers will be open all summer to serve their hundred users (25/07/2019)

The Councilor for Social and Family Rights, Pilar Torres, has visited this morning the three Municipal Centers of Day Stays located in Barriomar-La Purísima, Beniaján and Cabezo de Torres, which remain open throughout the year, without rest in the summer season, to provide dependent elderly people with health care services, personalized and adapted to their needs.

The municipality of Murcia has three day-stay centers with a capacity for 100 places in total, 40 in Beniaján, 30 in Barriomar and another 30 in Cabezo de Torres, from which they are provided daily, and in the morning and afternoon hours, geriatrics, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychology, social work and reception services.

The places are occupied by dependents derived by the Murciano Institute of Social Action, the result of the collaboration agreement between both administrations.

Thus, the IMAS finances the place of each of the dependent dependents including the maintenance and transportation service, with the City of Murcia being responsible for the integral management of the centers including the complete maintenance of said equipment to offer the beneficiaries a service of the highest quality with all the technical and human support required.

Of the total of the existing places, 91 are already those that come from the agreement with the regional administration, in which more than 1,100,000 euros are invested.

The total occupation of the centers at the moment reaches practically 100%

In addition to the social and health services provided by the centers, the people who attend enjoy the daily round-trip maintenance and transportation service for those who need it.

Cultural and recreational activities are also organized from the city council of Murcia that represent an opportunity for the coexistence of the users with their own family members and with the professionals who attend them.

Thus, it acts at a rehabilitative, preventive and personalized level, through group workshops and directed activities, dedicating to each elderly person the specific attention, treatment and supervision that they need based on their level of autonomy and cognitive capacity.

This day center resource joins the rest of the care and care services provided by the City of Murcia, to favor the permanence of the elderly and dependent people in their usual living environments.

Councilwoman Pilar Torres has highlighted "the qualification and professionalism of the workers who are dedicated daily to the care of the users in these centers and the high degree of satisfaction of the elderly themselves and their families in relation to this resource."
