The PSOE presents a motion to put an end to the "lack of control" of the government team and ensure municipal decentralization (15/07/2019)

It also requires the call for the creation of a clear regulation that specifies the powers and resources of the Municipal Boards and the City Council

Last week we heard through the media the news of the detention of the exconcejal Cristóbal Herrero, for being considered the main suspect of an apparent plot of illegal adjudication of contracts in districts.

This fact does not do more than to demonstrate the situation of "descontrol" that the municipality of Murcia and its corresponding districts have suffered during the 24 years of mandate of the Popular Party.

The lack of regulation has favored arbitrariness on the part of the Municipal Government Team.

A clear example of this practice is the fall in the financing of the Municipal Boards, leaving them well below the 8% ratified by the Supreme Court Judgment.

Faced with this situation, once again the Municipal Socialist Group gives the alarm so that the City Council duly performs the functions of decentralization and bring the municipal administration closer to the residents of the districts and neighborhoods.

For this reason, the spokesman of the Municipal Socialist Group, José Antonio Serrano, will present a motion to the next plenary session of the City of Murcia demanding that progress be made towards an authentic decentralization by the Governing Board of this City Council.

"We do not want more illusions, the Popular Party and its government team have to correct this repeated breach without further extension," explains Serrano.

"The first request of this motion will be to urge the government team to comply with the sentence of 8% and to keep it when making budgets for the next term," said the socialist spokesman, who also explained that this will help to achieve a more balanced municipality, where the services of neighborhoods and districts are equal, and in which a neighbor of any parish sees their needs as satisfied as any neighbor in the center of the city.

"Another point raised in the motion is that the gap that has existed in the budgets, breaching the 8% ratified, is now compensated by giving priority to the districts and neighborhoods with something more, increasing the percentage if necessary in order that now they can alleviate their needs ", adds José Antonio Serrano.

Likewise, the spokesman reminds that the Municipal and District Boards must be provided with the necessary material and human resources to be able to carry out the appropriate management, "you must proceed immediately, the districts must have both the financial means as of personnel and material that they need to offer their neighbors and worthy services, "Serrano notes.

Finally, the socialist spokesman believes that in order to apply this decentralization policy, it is necessary to create a legal framework that legislates the powers and means of the Municipal Boards.

"Therefore, we are going to demand the convocation in September of the Special Committee on Strategies of Social Recovery, Integration and Citizen Participation, so that within a maximum period of three months from its convocation, we have a clear regulation in which specify the competencies and technical, human and economic resources of the Municipal Boards and the City Council ", concludes Serrano.
