Parks and Gardens reviews and prunes the unique trees of the municipality (19/03/2019)

"The history of Murcia is also present in the green areas of the municipality, many of the trees that we see every day are 'living witnesses' of the evolution of Murcia.

They have given shade to our ancestors, most of Murcia have played and learned with them, being present in numerous events that have marked our lives "José Guillén highlighted

The City of Murcia, through the Department of Modernization of Urban Administration and Development directed by José Guillén, continues to work to review and prune the unique trees of the municipality.

The City of Murcia has a team of seven people, including a technician, an arborist, a height pruner and a specialized officer, along with three gardeners, responsible for caring for and maintaining the unique and historic trees in the municipality.

Some of the trees that are reviewing are the square of San Bartolomé de Murcia, the eucalyptus of the main street of El Palmar or the almez of Puebla de Soto, the longest in the municipality.

Murcia has more than 650 unique trees in the municipality, among which the banana trees of Monteagudo, those of Floridablanca or the pine trees of the Churra hamlet, which are 200 years old.

These trees are considered unique because they have completed 50 years of history and / or have special characteristics, either because of their shape or location.

"The history of Murcia is also present in the green areas of the municipality, many of the trees that we see every day are 'living witnesses' of the evolution of Murcia.

They have given shade to our ancestors, most of the Murcians have played and learned with them, being present in numerous events that have marked our lives ", highlighted José Guillén.
