Peñaranda has gone today to the building in which the 23 home help workers work, telecare and family respite and have protested the situation generated in a building where they were installed provisionally almost 10 years ago and live together daily with the threat of asbestos.
This is a mineral that in its day was very used in the construction of platforms such as the roofs of buildings that can still be seen today in buildings such as the one the City Council allocates to Social Services on Primero de Mayo Avenue and also in schools of the municipality whose maintenance is the competence of the Consistory.
The medical authorities have shown that products related to asbestos cause cancer and, in fact, its use in the countries of the European Union since 2005 is prohibited.
That is why the Municipal Socialist Group will present a plea in the Plenary session so that the mayor "gives an immediate solution to this problem," as Peñaranda points out.
"We are talking about a dangerous material and we understand the concern of employees who feel affected in their workplace, we are with them and we support their claim," says the mayor of the PSOE.
