The Catholic University of Murcia presented to its students the HURGE Project and the Ambulance of Desire Foundation in a Master Class taught by Manuel Pardo Ríos, vice dean of the Degree in Podiatry and José Manuel Salas Rodríguez, medical coordinator of the SUAP of Archena, both founders of the project HURGE
During the session, topics such as the handling of crisis situations and the human factor in emergencies were analyzed.
José Manuel Salas explained that 'HURGE' is a project that seeks closeness with the patient in emergencies, emergencies and catastrophes in Murcia.
"We have a multidisciplinary group of professionals, doctors, nurses, psychologists and assistants, who seek to bring humanization to emergency services, these services are achieved through training, research and communication."
Salas pointed out that in the current emergency services there are many technological advances and this causes the professionals to move away from the patient: "Our project seeks to return the humanization to the patient".
For his part, Manuel Pardo spoke on the Ambulance of Desire, a foundation that helps people who have a disease and are in a terminal phase of life to fulfill a last wish, for which they need medical transport.
Pardo recalled that to collaborate with the initiative there are different ways, such as volunteering.
"The wishes are made with volunteers, the people who ask for our services are not charged anything, it is an altruistic task, we also collaborate with companies that have donated equipment and materials".
