The budgets of the University of Murcia increase by 4.14 percent compared to 2018 (20/12/2018)

The Governing Council of the University of Murcia has approved in its session on Thursday the budgets of the institution, those of the Clinical Veterinary Foundation and those of the Medium Personalized Society TICARUM for the year 2019.

Regarding the budgets related to the UMU, a limit of the ceiling of expenditure for 2019 has been approved of 154,781,057 million euros.

The budget for the year 2019 is 224,501,419 euros, 4.14% more than in 2018. These budgets comply with the principle of financial sustainability in the terms provided for by Organic Law 2/2012 of April 27.

The nominative subsidies and investments from the autonomous community reach 157.955.251 euros (70.35% of the total budget).

In the investment section, the items for the construction of classrooms and laboratories for student internships of the Health Sciences Campus and (7,479,786 euros), scientific journals and databases (1,330,264 euros) and financing of predoctoral and postdoctoral contracts (2,387,206 euros).

Other main actions covered by the budget are the replacement of PDI retirements by full-time faculty, the promotion of the restructured Own Research Plan, the new internationalization strategy of the university and the plan for digital transformation.

In the same way, it has been agreed to send to ANECA for its verification the master's programs in Translational Biosanitary Research, Integral Risk Management and the joint doctoral program in Biolaw: Bioethics, Health and Human Rights.

This doctoral program will be carried out with the University of San Luis Potosí (Mexico).

On the other hand, the Corporate Training Plan has been approved for the year 2019, which allows continuous training of UMU staff.

It will be composed of 16 training programs, among which is English training.

The regulation of official doctorate studies has also been modified, in order to guarantee that the courts that have to judge doctoral theses have gender equity.

Related to the Vice-Rectorate for Research, it has been reported that the Seneca Foundation has awarded 11 pre-doctoral research contracts to students of the University of Murcia out of a total of 13 offered (the other two have corresponded to students of the UPCT).

Likewise, 2 contracts of a similar nature have been granted within the modality of interest for the company (out of a total of 4, the rest have been assigned to the UPCT and the CEBAS).

Regarding the call for postdoctoral mobility of this foundation, graduates of the University of Murcia have achieved half of the places offered.

The Vice Chancellor for Research has asked the Governing Council to create two technology-based companies: 'Skills not cognitive SL' (professional guidance to families who need training to meet special educational needs) and 'Laboratory of strategies and ideas for the territory SL '(use of different tools susceptible to be applied in urban regeneration processes).

The vice-chancellor of Employment, Entrepreneurship and Society has presented the agreements for the creation of three new university chairs: 'Interuniversity Open Chair for Innovation and Participation' (with the Murcia City Council and UPCT), 'Estrella de Levante Chair Campus Mare Nostrum '(with the company Estrella de Levante, SAU and UPCT) and the' Chair of Innovation for Intelligent Specialization '(with the Institute for Development of the Region of Murcia).

The agreement for the creation of the permanent headquarters of the University of Murcia in Ceutí has ​​also been approved, as well as the Regulation of the Internal Regime of the Delegation of Students of the Faculty of Nursing.

Finally, the Governing Council has approved the start-up of a 75-hour introductory course to Chinese and Chinese culture.

The Language Service will also incorporate into its offer an Italian and Portuguese language course that will allow students to obtain levels A1 and A2 in 150 hours;

courses for students who want to do an Erasmus stay.
