The Bacons Bridge Municipal Board, chaired by the PSOE, distributes 2,000 ecological bags among the merchants of the hamlet (12/12/2018)

The stores of the population will deliver from tomorrow to their customers reusable bags made with fiber thread thanks to the initiative launched by the organ chaired by Enrique Carrillo, who has contacted the Association of Merchants

"It is a magnificent example to move to more districts of Murcia through local and local commerce."

In these terms has referred the Councilman of the City of Murcia Enrique Ayuso to the measure adopted in Bacons Bridge to combat the deterioration of the planet because of pollution caused by the use of plastics.

This socialist mayor, the mayor of the district, Enrique Carrillo;

and the vice president of the Municipal Board, Lola Jara, announced the measure at a press conference held in the Moneo building.

"Last June the Plenary unanimously approved a motion by the PSOE to reduce the consumption of plastics at events and activities organized and promoted by the City Council, but six months later we do not see that Mayor Ballesta and his team have done much about it and it seems that the matter does not concern them or interests them in the least, on the contrary, from the Municipal Board of Bacons Bridge, which represents a population of almost 20,000 inhabitants, a measure to combat the contamination motivated by plastics and will do so by applying the theory that you have to think globally and act locally ", explained Ayuso.

The socialist mayor recalled that less than 30% of plastic is recycled and that thousands of tons end up contaminating the waters of rivers, seas and oceans, which leads to "a serious environmental and health problem."

In the same line, Carrillo has stated that "avoiding the use of plastic bags and bottles would eliminate between 70% and 80% of waste" and has appealed to the "commitment of all" to make it possible.

Therefore, from the Municipal Board that presides, more than 1,500 euros have been invested in acquiring 2,000 bags of raffia fiber thread, which have been manufactured by a company in the region in the colors red, garnet and green and that from tomorrow they will be delivered free of charge to the Bacons Bridge Merchants Association for distribution among the stores of this town, which in turn will give them to their customers.

"With this action of social responsibility we try to sensitize the citizenship of a problem that is everyone's and everyone's problem and for this reason the phrase 'For a waste-free planet' is printed on every bag," said Carrillo.
