The councilman participated this morning in the first meeting where the draft has been presented and has shown his willingness to work so that it becomes a reality as soon as possible

The councilor of the Municipal Socialist Group Enrique Ayuso has participated this morning in the first meeting to study the draft of the Municipal Ordinance of Sustainable Mobility of Murcia, which believes that it is necessary to protect both the pedestrian and the cyclist himself and not bet everything to the sanctioning scope.

In this sense, he affirms forcefully that "our main objective is to encourage the use of bicycles and personal mobility vehicles, and at the same time that pedestrians continue to have the highest priority in the municipality, for which we need more segregated bike lanes ";

and insists that in this way they will get "safe routes for bicycles, electric bikes, electric scooters, mechanics, skates ... But you have to install those segregated lanes throughout the municipality."

In this regard, he specifies that the construction of safe lanes "does not imply large economic investments, but it is about looking for space on the road for signaling, and signaling is not to draw bicycles on the tracks where cars and trucks circulate, it is delimit exclusive spaces for motor vehicles ".

After the meeting, Enrique Ayuso regretted that the draft presented is called Sustainable Mobility and, however, does not contemplate either public transport or intermodality.

"I say that after our Municipal Group claimed more than three and a half years ago an ordinance of bicycles (the last time last November), which has been waiting since 2010, when the Master Plan of the Bicycle was presented, the logical thing is that starting from the base that the neighbor or neighbor who takes a two-wheeled vehicle is because he prefers the car and with that choice is removing a tourist from the streets, so you have to give it facilities and allow other combinations with public transport "

"What is involved is to promote, promote, use with the utmost respect for the pedestrian and with all the guarantees for the cyclist", insists the councilor, who also assures that in this first draft, which we have provided in the meeting, and not before so that we could take proposals already, we have observed contradictions like establishing on the one hand the obligation of the cyclist to subscribe an insurance and, on the other, that this is voluntary ".

In any case, "we are going to work so that this draft becomes as soon as possible a consensual ordinance and regularizes the use of so many new vehicles that derive from adapted bicycles for the transport of children, tourists, packages or even animals".

Enrique Ayuso believes that "there is a lot of work to be done and we hope that the people in charge of the government team will take it urgently to have that ordinance that is so necessary".
