The International Observatory of the Family is born (07/12/2018)

"The objective of this observatory is to provide an important service of formation and help to families, especially the most unstructured, in all the countries of the Earth", assured the president of the UCAM, José Luis Mendoza, referring to the new Observatory International of the Family that has been presented this Thursday in the Sala Stampa of the Vatican.

In this project, which has as its seed the request of Pope Francis to investigate the current situation of the family, there will be a worldwide research that will focus on the family and poverty with two main lines: relational poverty and poverty economic

In the act of presentation of this Observatory they have intervened with José Luis Mendoza, president of the UCAM;

Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, president of the Pontifical Theological Institute John Paul II, and Francesco Belletti, director of the International Center for Family Studies (CISF) based in Milan.

José Luis Mendoza has stated that in this Observatory "we put at the disposal of the project the human, logistical and economic resources necessary to create a network of local contacts in the five continents: institutions specialized in the scientific research of the family or that work daily with or for families, to be able to collect reliable data. "

The president of the UCAM has also added that this project will begin to develop in Africa;

in Nairobi;

Mozambique;

also in New Delhi;

in China and in Latin American countries, following an evolutionary process.

The president of the Catholic has recalled that "the headquarters of this International Observatory of the Family will be in Murcia, in the UCAM".

Likewise, Mendoza has indicated that "the contribution that the UCAM offers to the activity of the Observatory, as a co-founding body, is in perfect harmony with its nature, that is, the increase of superior culture and the fuller promotion of the

human person, the diffusion of scientific knowledge and the integral development of the members of the academic community ".

It should be noted that the UCAM covers most of the budget of this project, which has a team of translators exchanging information in real time in five languages.

In his speech, Monsignor Vincenzo Paglia thanked the UCAM for providing the logistics and international connections center that brings together academic institutions from 15 countries around the world already in this phase of presentation, with a view to adding hundreds of universities and specialized institutions.

For his part, the director of the CISF, Francesco Belletti, has highlighted "the interest in comparing both the vulnerabilities of the family and the practical effectiveness of different types of aid, as well as the way, still incipient, in which countries invest to make in the face of the demographic implosion and rapid aging of the population in Europe, America and Asia. "
