'The foods that take care of us' in the new talk of the UMU (05/12/2018)

Next Monday, December 10, at 7:30 p.m., in the Cultural Area Room of El Corte Inglés, the talk 'Food that takes care of us' will take place.

María Jesús Periago, professor at the University of Murcia (UMU), will give a lecture in which she will help us identify the foods of vegetable origin that are most beneficial to our health, the main bioactive and functional compounds, as well as how to prepare and cook them at home. maintain their properties and optimize their bioavailability.

María Jesús Periago Castón is Professor of Nutrition and Bromatology at the Faculty of Veterinary and Academic number of the Academy of Veterinary Sciences.

His line of research focuses on the study of the composition and beneficial effects for the health of foods of vegetable origin.

He has participated in numerous national and European projects, as well as research contracts with different companies.

This activity is organized by the Unit of Scientific Culture of the Vice-rectorate of Communication and Culture of the University of Murcia, within the cycle of conferences 'The UMU and the scientific culture'.

The objective is to bring the research carried out at the University of Murcia to society closer.
