500 athletes will participate in the Masters Murcia Basketball Tournament (04/12/2018)

The Councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, presented this morning the 2nd Masters Murcia International Basketball Tournament, MAMBA18 together with the representative of the Decyde Association, Fernando Zaplana.

The event will take place from 7 to 9 December and will be held in sports facilities of the City Council and the University of Murcia, with the Prince of Asturias being the main pavilion.

The reception and official welcome to the athletes is scheduled for Friday, December 7, at 9:00 pm, at the ZigZag leisure center.

In this sporting event, organized by the Decyde Association and the Triple Triple collective, it is expected a participation of 500 veteran sportsmen between 35 and 60 years old, who come from 11 countries (Lithuania, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Italy, Holland, United Kingdom). United, Ireland, Portugal, Uruguay and Spain).

In its templates there are players from 28 nationalities, from Australia, New Zealand, Timor, Argentina, Colombia, Uruguay or Mexico.

MAMBA18 is a meeting point for international and national participants who will enjoy the 'Maxibasket'.

In addition, with respect to the first edition there has been an increase of registrations of 32% and 160% of female participation, which grows spectacularly from 5 to 13 teams "has highlighted Felipe Coello.

72% of teams repeat the participation, 18 of the 25. In this edition there are 18 international teams, 8 national and 7 local teams.

In addition, Murcia has been proposed as the venue for the FIMBA World League in April 2021, an event in which the participation of

80 teams and more than 1,000 visitors from around the world.

The annual World League events were held in 2018 in the city of Matsue in Japan, in 2019 it will be held in Kaunas - Lithuania and in 2020 in Cape Town - South Africa.
