The UCAM has incorporated to its staff 14 students of the UCAMPACITAS program that today has celebrated various activities on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities
'Different capacities, infinite possibilities' is the motto chosen by the Catholic University of Murcia to commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The students of the UCAMPACITAS program -for the social and professional inclusion of people with intellectual disability pioneer in the Region of Murcia- have participated in a dance show, a gymkhana and adapted sports games, organized together with the Degree in Dance of the UCAM and the cycle formative of Superior Technician in Teaching and Sociodeportive Animation of the Superior Institute of FP San Antonio.
The objective of these activities is to pursue inclusion, and to reclaim the real abilities that these students have.
The acts will continue on Wednesday with a solidarity market and a craft workshop.
UCAMPACITAS
The UCAMPACITAS project, launched by the Catholic University of Murcia in 2012, prepares young people with disabilities in academic, professional and personal skills.
The students are trained during two academic courses - including a quarter of labor internships in companies from different sectors - and obtain the title of 'Technician of companies and socio-labor activities'.
The central axis of this program is the inclusion of students with intellectual disabilities in the university and work environment, and for this purpose they are trained with qualified teachers in the fields of pedagogy and psychology, as well as job coaches.
The UCAM has incorporated to its staff 14 students of the UCAMPACITAS program, in addition to the six that have been hired by companies in the Region.
UCAMPACITAS is framed within the Chair of Social and Labor Inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities, through which it organizes activities aimed at promoting teaching, research and dissemination objectives in the field of people with intellectual disabilities.
