Let's change Murcia denounces the "lack of transparency" of the Town Hall on the property of the Spring Garden in homage to Antonio Campillo (03/12/2018)

Nacho Tornel, spokesman for the municipal group Cambiemos Murcia, today harshly criticized the municipal government team for its "opacity" regarding the property and the cost of the Spring Garden in homage to Antonio Campillo who occupied part of the Avenida de La Libertad a early April of this year, until a man set fire to it.

Tornel explained that as reported by the local government at the time, both the statue and its intellectual property belonged to the concessionaire of the maintenance service STV Gestión.

However, this company, in response to a question to the Plenary directed by the municipal training, maintains that "it does not own the garden" and that it does not know "to whom it corresponds".

The aforementioned entity -which received a total of 8.6 million euros from the Consistory in 2017- also states in its letter that the cost of the Spring Garden amounted to approximately 42,000 euros, a money attributed to "municipal investment".

This contrasts with the statement that appears in the communiqués of the City Council, which ensures that the ownership of the sculpture belongs to STV.

"It is clear that someone is lying and that, in any case, the City Council, with the mayor, José Ballesta, at the head, has once again demonstrated its lack of transparency in terms of expenses," Tornel said.

No answer about the 16 Spring Gardens

The question asked by Cambiemos Murcia in April included other questions regarding who took charge of the cost of the garden, if the Consistory has participated in this disbursement and to whom the ownership of the 16 Spring Gardens, peroni Guillén or the concessionaire of the service of maintenance have responded so far.

"It is unjustifiable the silence of the PP and how it uses STV as parapet," added Tornel, who has also reported that no invoice appears with respect to the Spring Gardens in the accounting application of the local Administration, although in the answer of the company refer at all times to a "municipal investment".

Tornl also recalled that the sculpture was allocated the same amount as, for example, the investment chapter of the municipal boards of La Albatalía and Cañada Hermosa together, or the aid for the adaptation of the taxis of the municipality to people with mobility reduced.
