The Murcian count for the first time with a subsidy from the City Council to acquire electric vehicles (06/08/2018)

The Department of Urban Planning, Environment, Water and Garden has received 63 requests for aid for the promotion of sustainable mobility and energy efficiency in homes and buildings.

Of these, 48 requests are to buy electric bicycles, cars and motorcycles.

Antonio Navarro warns that the objective is' to achieve a reduction of polluting emissions, either by saving energy in homes or by using 100% clean vehicles, in line with the commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to the minus 40% by the year 2030 '.

Sixty-three applications have been received by the City of Murcia in the call for the granting of subsidies for the promotion of sustainable mobility and energy efficiency in the municipality, which have an endowment of 163,384 euros.

The result was presented today by the Councilor for Urban Planning, Environment, Water and Kitchen Garden, Antonio Navarro, who explained that "the overall objective of the initiative is the reduction of polluting emissions, either by saving energy in homes or by using 100% clean vehicles. '

This call is part of the commitments made through the signing of the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, through which the municipality of Murcia will reduce emissions of greenhouse gases by at least 40% by 2030. In this sense, Navarro has asserted that 'the City Council has demonstrated a clear commitment to energy saving policies and the drive towards a low emission transport and mobility model'.

Therefore, the councilor for Urban Planning, Environment, Water and Garden has reiterated 'our unequivocal commitment to a model of sustainable development in which we work intensively to reduce energy consumption, improve energy efficiency in all sectors and favor that mobility in our cities is dominated by clean and sustainable means of transport.

Bicycles, cars and motorcycles

Most of the requests registered in the call, specifically 48, correspond to the acquisition of a new electric vehicle -which is granted for the first time-, while 12 will be allocated to the installation of renewable energy sources in lighting, heating, air conditioning or hot water in buildings and an aid is granted to provide infrastructure for recharging electric vehicles in garages.

Two requests were rejected for not adhering to the conditions.

Of the 48 electric vehicles that the owners will acquire with the municipal subsidy, 32 are electric bicycles, 14 are cars and 1 motorcycle.

The aid can not exceed 50% of the purchase cost, with a maximum of 4,500 euros, while the total amount granted has been € 66,205.

In addition to the condition of being registered in Spain, another requirement to access these aids was that they should be cars, vans or light trucks, light or heavy quadricycles, motorcycles and pedal bicycles assisted by an electric motor.

Individuals or legal entities could benefit, but concessionaires were excluded, and included both their direct acquisition and through financing operations by financial leasing or leasing by renting.

With this initiative, the Department of Urban Planning, Environment, Water and Garden culminates another of the key measures included in its Local Electric Vehicle Strategy, as was the granting of aid for the purchase in order to promote electric mobility, that between Its greater difficulties of expansion face its higher cost compared to combustion vehicles.

It was also one of the 6 measures most valued by citizens of the 50 that make up the strategy.

Decrease energy consumption in homes or buildings

Regarding energy efficiency measures, the City Council has contributed financing actions aimed at reducing energy consumption in housing or the building.

12 applications were registered, of which 4 were for air conditioning, 3 for thermal envelope improvement, 2 for solar thermal, 2 for excess solar radiation and 1 for lighting.

In this case, grants of up to 50% of the cost of the actions were granted, with a maximum of 2,500 euros, and 18,676 euros have been spent, in addition to 2,033 euros for the installation of recharging infrastructure in communities.

In particular, the measures are applied to residential buildings that incorporate improvements in energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources in lighting -installation of sensors, replacement of luminaires, etc.- heating, air conditioning and sanitary hot water.

The deadline to undertake the eligible expenditure is extended until December 31, 2018, so that the actions can be planned well in advance.
