Royal Powder Factory
Founded in the time of Felipe IV, it was the main one of the Kingdom of Spain.
In 1656 the building is constructed, establishing a perimeter wall to protect the facilities.
Its architecture is linked to the military engineer, architect and mathematician Melchor de Luzón.
The factory is built in order to generate economic wealth in the city.
Two years later it starts to work.
Fernando VII privatized the factory for refining saltpeter in 1818.
