The architecture of David Frutos sneaks into the Puertas de Castilla (18/04/2018)

The Puertas de Castilla Center, with the collaboration of photographer José Luis Carrillo and architect Enrique Nieto, bets on the photographer specialized in architecture David Frutos, who will show part of his most personal work in this space.

The exhibition, which opens Thursday at 8 pm and can be seen until June 8, focuses on architectural photographs that invite visitors to think differently.

The performative capacity of photography in it is a key issue that has become part of the discourse and practices of many photographers, but not so much and still insufficiently of architectural photography.

The photographs selected for this exhibition contribute to an expanded perception of architecture and show their relationships with those others that are now coming to the fore in the concerns of citizens: Vegetations, skies, climatologies, hybrid landscapes, collectives, specific contexts, children, old women, allow us to glimpse the relational scope of architecture, its hybrid and composite nature, as well as the ethical positions that articulate many of these relationships.

The presence of Frutos in the context of Murcian architecture is a singular fact in the face of the great disparity of architects and architects who have worked over the past 20 years.

In this time, almost 1,000 reports have built an extremely expert look from their own technologies and interests, but it has also contributed to building their own view as citizens.

This exhibition, which will house the exhibition hall of Puertas de Castilla until June 8, illustrates to a large extent this symmetrical relationship, fundamental to reopen the debate on architecture and its means of socialization, to be there by other means.

David Frutos, began making photographic reports of all kinds, going on to specialize in the field of architecture in 2001, earning a magnificent reputation that has led him to make reports throughout the national geography, positioning himself as the most requested Spanish architecture photographer of the moment .

His work has been published in more than 300 publications around the world, as well as in countless digital media.

He has participated in different exhibitions and has given various conferences, courses and seminars, as well as participated in round tables and juries on several occasions.

He is a founding partner of the agency BISimages.

For the photographer, photography and the work of architecture maintain a complex relationship.

Photography expands with its lightness the scope of the slower materiality of architecture and contributes to its socialization by making it accessible to networks of experts and to diverse publics.

However, as shown in this exhibition, architectural photography has remained with us and we may even be rethinking some considerations with it, since we now know that photography also builds stories with the capacity to give continuity or challenge certain power regimes.
