"The Virgin is near us", Msgr. Lorca in the farewell of the Fuensanta (17/04/2018)

The Virgin of the Fuensanta returns this morning to her Shrine after spending Lent, Easter Week and Spring Festival in the Cathedral.

The Bishop of Cartagena presided over this morning the Eucharist at 7:00 a.m. in the Cathedral with which the people of Murcia fired their patron, before accompanying her in pilgrimage.

Bishop Lorca recalled that the Virgin "has come to live with us a special time to enter into the mystery of God's love, Lent.

Now go back to your Sanctuary but do not let it go from our heart.

He is close to us, in our pains and sufferings;

she is our mediator. "

The Bishop invited those present to live "the freedom of the children of God" and, in this way, "build a society of peace".

He insisted that having faith "has social implications, because the Christian looks around and wants to change it, putting mercy and peace."

Likewise, he has asked for the hand to be offered to the most needy: "Our responsibility is to work for others."

The Bishop was accompanied by the Archbishop emeritus of Burgos, Bishop Francisco Gil Hellín, and the Dean of the Cathedral, Juan Tudela, among other priests.

Before 8:00 o'clock the image of the patron saint of Murcia left the door of the temple, to which thousands of faithful people waited in the Plaza del Cardenal Belluga, who accompanied her in pilgrimage to her shrine in the mountain.

The Blessed Virgin of Fuensanta will return to the capital on August 30.
