The UCAM creates a Pilot Plant for Food Processing (22/03/2018)

Thanks to the agreement with PANASA, Equilabo, Inbuatek, Inoxpaser and SGE Edificaciones, it will be located in Los Jerónimos to train the students of the degrees in Nutrition, Food Technology and Gastronomy, and the postgraduate courses of the Food Campus

The Catholic University of Murcia has signed agreements with the companies of the Region PANASA, Equilabo, Inbautek, Inoxpaser and SGE Buildings for the start-up of a Pilot Plant for Food Processing in its Campus of Murcia, which will complete the leading facilities that students of the Food Campus have for their training, such as GastroLab or its laboratories.

The new Plant, in which the students of the degrees in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Food Science and Technology, and Gastronomy will be formed, along with those belonging to the postgraduate students of the area, will have a complete line of food processing, equipped with a laboratory area with the latest technologies for online control of food quality or microbiology, as well as an area of ​​refrigeration and freezing chambers.

The agreement has been signed by José Luis Mendoza, president of the UCAM, and the managers of Inoxpaser, Eulalio Bernal;

of Inbautek and Equilabo, Ángel Abellán;

of PANASA, Josefa Navarro, and of SGE Edificaciones, Antonio Ángel Marcos.

The event was attended by Estrella Núñez, Vice Chancellor of Research at the University;

Luis Tejada, director of the OTRI;

José María Cayuela, vice-dean of the degrees in Nutrition, Food Technology and Gastronomy, and professors of the different degrees.

These facilities represent a new commitment to research in the field of health;

as well as being a reference center both for food processing at the pilot plant level, and for specialized training topics in everything related to the agri-food industry, a subject with a strong presence in the Region of Murcia.

In addition, this new facility will open the possibility for UCAM and the Higher Institute of Professional Training San Antonio to expand their training in the area of ​​food and quality control processes.
