The planting campaign of more than 800 trees in Murcia and districts begins (10/12/2017)

The Park and Gardens Service, under the Department of Modernization of the Administration, Urban Quality and Participation, directed by José Guillén, has begun the tree planting campaign in order to recover those specimens that have been damaged by vandalism, which They have not withstood the inclemency of time as well as the creation of new spaces where there were no trees before.

In total about 800 units will be planted, mostly mulberry and orange trees, both in Murcia and in hamlets.

The City Council carries out an intense campaign of planting and replacing new specimens throughout the year, but it is in autumn and winter when the greatest activity occurs.

This work is planned to be carried out in each and every one of the different districts of Murcia where necessary, such as Puente Tocinos, El Palmar or Beniaján, among others.

In Murcia, capital, among other spaces, there will also be plantations in Santa María de Gracia, La Fama or Calle Cuartel de Artillería.

"What we want is for Murcia not to have a single tree without its corresponding tree, since this way we improve the quality of life for Murcians", explains Councilman José Guillén.

At the same time the well-known dismantling is taking place that allows not to damage the surrounding areas of the old specimens by eliminating the old root system to plant a new specimen that grows without any problem.

This work is developed thanks to a team of three people who also contribute a product that makes the specimen grow with stronger roots and last longer in time.

According to it has been demonstrated, the improvement of quality of life in the citizenship is increased with the presence of vegetal species, since there are studies that demonstrate the association of reduction of levels of stress when traveling landscaped roads in opposition to doing it by pavements without gardening .
