The Governing Board approves the project and the specifications to award the works promoted by the Department of Modernization, Urban Quality and Participation, with a budget of 1 million euros and a lead time of 8 months.

This new urban infrastructure, part of the Murcia River project, which will allow us to recover a space from the very heart of the city.

The City of Murcia starts the process to build the Alameda del Malecón Garden, the second major project that begins its process after the Four Stones, which will be connected by the river walk along the river.

Today, the Government Board has approved, at the proposal of the Department of Modernization of Administration, Urban Quality and Participation, directed by José Guillén, the project and specifications to award the works of Alameda del Malecón, with a budget of 1 million euros and an execution period of 8 months.

2 y permitirá conseguir una comunicación visual y de tránsito peatonal entre el Paseo del Malecón y el río.

2 and will allow visual communication and pedestrian traffic between the Paseo del Malecon and the river.

In this way, the connection will allow to understand the existence of the Malecón, an artificial dam constructed to defend the city before the overflows of the water of the fluvial channel.

Simultaneously, the action promoted by the area of Parks and Gardens has among its objectives the restoration of the landscape of the place and the recovery of the mall on the bank.

"It is not an urban garden to use, but a riverbank forest that will be open to the playful use of all Murcia," says José Guillén.

So, starting from the bike lane that runs alongside the river, I would start the mall, with a very wide road, six meters long, flanked by white poplars.

And the idea, according to the technicians, is to gradually develop a landscape that ranges from something very naturalized, glued to the river, to an agricultural landscape, with citrus, fruit trees, palm trees and, in the line closest to the Malecón, and cut flower, which will give the façade to the Malecon.

The works will recover the original topography of the area.

The project also contemplates the use of the irrigation ditch of the Arboleja, which runs along the plot, for the irrigation of the various terraces where plantations are carried out, especially the one destined for the mall.

A sidewalk promenade of Populus alba will be created, paved by a spreading of almagra colored alberos, and plantations of tree-like orchards with citrus species and fruit of stone and nugget.

On the other hand, the new Alameda del Malecón will reserve four central spaces to house facilities and furniture for public use, using the facade to an orthogonal arrangement of platforms and leaving some quarters for planting shrubs and seasonal species.

In the embankment of the freeway is planned to build walls of gabions that allow the modification of the slopes to establish plantations and in its foot will be traced road paved in pigmented agglomerate in color siena.

The current channeling of the ditch by pipeline will be sawn, recovering an open section that will later recreate with vertical facings through concerted masonry.

In addition, the project plans to provide an irrigation system located in the area of the embankment and front garden, just as the road at the foot of the slope will be lit during night time.
