The Centro Informajoven of the City of Murcia present at the Encounter of the Asturian Network of Youth Information (19/10/2017)

Last Friday, October 13, a meeting of debate and reflection was held in the International Encounters of Youth of Cabueñes (known in the networks by the acronym: KBUÑS) organized by the Asturian Institute of Youth, the City of Gijón and the Youth Councils of Spain, Asturias and Gijón, in order to facilitate and enable the professionals of the Asturian Network of Youth Information work tools and growth in their daily work.

This training activity has focused its content around the motto "Interacting with young people in the virtual world (social media and social networks)".

Its objective was to analyze the trends observed in the use made by young people of different social media and ICT.

It also analyzed the legal framework on data protection of users of Youth Information Centers and reviewed possible lines of protocol for interacting with young people based on the different types of information we disseminate, among other issues.

Gabriel Navarro, Head of the Informajoven Center of the City of Murcia, has been the coordinator and teacher of the meeting of the RAIJ in this edition of 2017, and highlighted in the contents treated that the impact of social networks force the technicians of Youth to to face one of its greatest challenges in its work with young people.

As well, the need to be constantly updated on trends in the uses of social media by different generations of young people.

In this meeting, speakers of the journalist Nagore García Sanz, an expert in Youth and Social Media services and with lawyer José Manuel Fernández Mirás, legal counsel in Technological Law at OGB & P Abogados were also present.

Among the contents addressed by Gabriel Navarro were the latest studies and reports conducted worldwide and in our country on the uses made by young people of social networking sites and mobile devices to communicate;

observing, among other aspects, that the distribution by age groups in these uses is as follows: Facebook: used mostly to establish and maintain ties of friendship and family;

YouTube, the network most in demand both as a tool for leisure and learning;

Instagram, with which it is projected the most egocentric aspect of the user, is also successful among all generations of young people;

Twitter, used more in the 25/30 year span for information, and finally, Snapchat, the network that attracts the younger and, to a lesser extent, the more adult (perhaps for that reason, the former consume more).

Youth technicians who participated in this second meeting of the RAIJ (the first was held last year in KBUÑS to celebrate the 25th anniversary of this network) also had the opportunity to examine the relational context and the ways of sharing with the mobile devices, based on the suggestions, examples and analysis presented by Gabriel Navarro.
