The Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the Councilor for Modernization, José Guillén, attended today the inauguration of Telefónica's innovative exhibition, a technological showcase with the most cutting-edge innovations that host the University Square until Saturday afternoon .
The inaugural event was attended by Telefónica's general manager in the Region of Murcia, Catalonia, Comunidad Valenciana and Balearic Islands, Kim Faura.
The innovative exhibition brings to Murcia the latest technologies in the Internet of Things (IoT), LTE Nano, Smart Space and Smart Retail and can be visited free from this afternoon until Saturday on an uninterrupted schedule from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. , in the University Square.
José Ballesta said during his speech that "Telefónica is the Spanish company that makes a major investment in R & D, with almost 6,000 million, ranking among the five companies in the world that makes greater investment in this field."
The mayor also added that "from the City Hall we have it as one of the preferred partners for the development of the project 'MiMurcia' smart city," which has been valued by the Ministry of Industry as the most ambitious in the country, achieving the greater funding from Spain, compared to a total of 111 cities in competitive competition, so that Murcia will receive an injection of 8 million euros, in a three-year progressive implementation plan.
