The PSOE claims programs that promote fair play and eradicate violence in children's sports (22/06/2017)

The Municipal Socialist Group will defend in the next plenary a motion to demand the implementation of programs that promote fair play and, at the same time, eradicate any type of violence in the sport practiced by children.

In this sense, socialist councilor Maite Espinosa believes that "now that the course is over, it is an ideal moment to think about developing programs that raise awareness among both parents and children that competitiveness in sport should be a stimulus and always understood as fun".

Espinosa explains in the motion that the practice of sport is necessary, but precisely to help integration and coexistence and "not to create rivalries that lead to violence that leads to nothing good, just to give a bad example to the most To create prejudices and frustrations. "

Therefore, he adds that "a positive competitiveness is one that teaches to assume mistakes because the effort can serve to win, but above all to improve and have fun, because when being part of a team also learn to dismiss selfish attitudes, Sport is a transmitter of values that can positively influence the integral development of the child: self-denial, self-control, self-esteem, motivation, commitment, responsibility or solidarity. "

The councilor says that "violence in sport deserves a focus from above the municipal level but, even so, the City Council can collaborate and include actions within its youth programs so that no altercation occurs or at least minimize. This way "we will avoid attitudes that incite intolerance, racism or xenophobia".

For all this, Maite Espinosa calls on the government team to start a campaign against violence, especially with associations of parents and schools and urge the regional government to review the legislation on uncivil attitudes and promotion or generation of violence In any of its forms that occur in sports or annexes or that negatively influence the educational action and transmission of values through sport.
