The Murcia schools expose the new methods to teach English in the classrooms (29/03/2017)

New times need new methodologies to educate.

This has been explained today in the EDUCAMDO Conference at the Catholic University of Murcia where different schools have presented the methods that are being applied to teach English in Murcia classrooms, such as CLIL (Content Integrated Learning and Foreign Language).

This methodology is based on songs and games, and some schools use it, such as the Public School Nuestra Señora de Atocha de Murcia.

Elementary students learn the language of Shakespeare by doing different activities, such as writing an autobiography, but without naming a colleague to find out who the story belongs to through a series of clues, and also picking up a brain and describing the parts That you see.

Other exercises that children do to acquire the Anglo-Saxon language are screenplays, and also explain a topic in depth every quarter, such as the human body, digestive system or brain.

The director of the Public School Nuestra Señora de Atocha de Murcia, María del Carmen Nortes, has asserted that "six years ago we implemented bilingualism in our school and this year the first bilingual promotion comes out, and families are very satisfied."

Ana Andrúgar, the teacher of the Degree in Early Childhood and Primary Education and coordinator of the event, stressed the importance of bilingualism and that the Ministry of Education intends that in 2020 the entire network of schools be part of the bilingual program.

In addition to bilingual education, other topics related to emotional education and the need to promote entrepreneurship in children have been developed during the day.

The therapeutic pedagogy of the Kingdom of Murcia College, Mar López, has said that emotional education serves to "stimulate the entrepreneurial spirit" of primary school students, taking away the fear of making mistakes and leaving them free to be creative.

Another method that Lopez has presented is Project Based Learning (ABP) whose purpose is to motivate the student to investigate a topic that interests him and thus satisfies that interest by learning what he really likes.

"Although projects must meet the minimum content set in official curricula, we have the freedom to choose the subjects with which students will learn what the law requires.

Finally, the teacher of the Colegio Concertado Sagrado Corazón de San Javier, Lidia López, explained the Bits, a method of intelligence, which is based on early stimulation of the students' cognitive abilities.

It is about repeating, with images, daily calculation operations and the forms of the triangles.

"In this way, the children's brains create a greater number of connections and that allows a greater understanding of the concepts in the future."
