Magic solidarity to make a new center of early care for children with autism in Murcia (21/02/2017)

Murcia will host the International Festival of solidarity magic 'Great Illusions' 2017 on 16, 17 and 18 March. 100% of the proceeds will go to the remodeling of an early care center for children with autism of the organization Asteamur.

The Teatro Romea, for the first time, will be the scene of exception of the Great International Gala of Closing, which will have the presence of magicians and illusionists of national and international prestige.

From March 2 to 17 will take place the 1st Route of the Magic Cover, in which a total of 63 establishments of the city will participate, associating for the first time this Festival to the Murcia gastronomy.

The Plaza del Romea hosted today the presentation of the VIII International Festival of solidarity magic 'Great Illusions' 2017, which this year aims to raise funds for the remodeling of an early care center for children with autism of the organization Asteamur ( Association of People with Autistic Disorder in the Region of Murcia).

The mayor of the city, José Ballesta, accompanied by the director of the Gmp Foundation - which organizes the festival - Francisco Fernández, and the president of Asteamur, Juana Martínez de Haro, presented this event that will fill Murcia with magic and illusion in the coming days 16, 17 and 18 March, with performances by great magicians and illusionists of national and international prestige.

"This year, for the first time, we incorporate the Romea Theater as an exceptional venue, which will host the festival's golden snap: the Great International Closing Gala on Saturday, March 18," said the mayor.

The other shows will take place at the Teatro Circo, with the exception of free street magic exhibitions that will take place in the Plaza de Santo Domingo.

The second novelty of this year is the 1st Route of the Magic Cover, which will be attended, from the 2 to the 17 of March, a total of 63 establishments of the city, associating for the first time this Festival to Murcia gastronomy.

In the seven years of existence of this Festival promoted by the Gmp Foundation, 100% of the profits have been destined to improve the lives of people with intellectual disabilities, collecting a total of 266,000 euros that have contributed to materialize projects driven by The Murcian entities of Nuevo Horizonte, Assido, Feaps, Astrapace, Fundown, CEOM and Abamur.

In particular, this year's project, which will benefit Asteamur, consists of refurbishing and equipping a local association, provided by the City of Murcia, to adapt it to the therapeutic and care needs of children and their families.

"This year, we hope to beat a new record of participation and that the Murcianos turn, as you know, in a cause that will benefit not only the 103 children currently attending Asteamur, but also allow the addition of 29 other small Are on the waiting list, "said the mayor.

With this initiative the Gmp Foundation advances its objective of improving the quality of people with Down Syndrome, Acquired Brain Damage and other types of intellectual disability to achieve full family, school, work and social integration.

Programming

The festival will consist of the celebration of four Galas de Magia, in addition to the shows of 'Magic of Street' that will host Santo Domingo the day of Friday and Saturday:
